The BT-Mg is similar in style to the base BT except the frame and backrest are made from Magnesium alloy. Magnesium is the lightest structural metal on the planet! By volume, magnesium is roughly 35% lighter than aluminum and 62% lighter than titanium, yet has similar strength characteristics as 6061-T6 aluminum. Magnesium is also exceptional at dampening vibrations which gives a smoother ride. The BT-Mg cuts down on weight by utilizing high tech laminated carbon fiber sailcloth for seating material, titanium hardware, and Frog Legs Uni-tine caster forks. Add it all up, and you have an Impossibly Light™ chair! Transport weight is just 8.4 pounds for a 16" x 16" fame (that's less than a gallon of milk which weighs 8.62 pounds) and 15.5 pounds for the entire chair including the rear wheels (not including cushion- cushion weights range from 1 pound and up depending on size and material).
